Coca-Cola To Divest Bottling Operations In India

Coca-Cola will divest its bottling operations in India as a result of its global strategy to sell asset-heavy operations and focus more on brands and strategy. Coca-Cola had first started the divestment process at the end of 2019, selling off its bottling units in the north, which accounted for 10 percent of its bottling operations. Plans to sell the remaining business were paused due to the pandemic. The sell-off process would involve the asset sale of about two dozen bottling plants operated by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages. Potential buyers could include industrial houses or foreign or local bottling partners.

Coca-Cola To Invest Significantly In India

Coca-Cola is investing significantly in India along with its bottling partners due to the country’s rapid development. The expansion of electrification into India’s rural neighborhoods provides Coca-Cola with the opportunity to install chillers in stores to sell cold beverages. A growing economy and an emerging middle class will also open new markets for its beverages. Following these developments, Coca-Cola India experienced its strongest year on record in 2022.
