Philippines Probes Coca-Cola Bottler's Sugar Import Claims

Philippine Sugar Regulatory Administration officials are verifying claims by Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines that a manufacturing plant fire justified importing finished Coke products from Indonesia. Administrator Pablo Luis Azcona said the firm cited rising sales volumes outpacing current plant capacity, with a new facility in Tarlac not yet in operation. He added the company described the import arrangement as temporary. Beverage makers and other industries reportedly consume 60% of the country's sugar stockpile.

Sprite Adds Tea-Inspired Flavor To Its Lineup

Sprite is expanding its refreshment portfolio with Sprite + Tea, a flavor combining its lemon-lime base with tea notes, developed after an online trend of consumers adding tea bags to the drink. Thailand is the first ASEAN market for the launch, under the campaign "Sound Wrong, Tastes So Right," fronted by actress Janistar Phomphadungcheep. Internal consumer research reportedly showed interest among both Sprite drinkers and other sparkling soft drink consumers. Packaging spans 500ml and 245ml PET bottles, 1L bottles, 325ml cans and six-can multipacks.

Danone

Danone To Invest Over €50m In Volvic Site

Danone is investing more than €50m through 2030 in its Volvic bottling facility in France, primarily to improve the site's environmental performance. Upgrades include deploying reuse technology at the Chancet facility, which Danone said will make it the first French natural mineral water plant to repurpose treated wastewater for industrial use, conserving 220 million liters annually. Spending plans also cover a more efficient bottling line, decarbonization measures and workforce training. Antoine de Saint-Affrique, Danone's CEO, said the investment aims to strengthen Volvic's role in hydration and regional development.

Danone Appeals Rejected Harrogate Water Site Expansion

Danone is to appeal a decision blocking expansion of its Harrogate Spring Water site in North Yorkshire, after a planning committee rejected the proposal council officers had recommended for approval. The application was refused over landscaping judged inadequate to offset tree loss and a design said to lack local distinctiveness. Danone argues those reasons do not justify departing from the officers' advice. Plans include a two-acre public woodland and planting six times the number of trees removed.
