South African Tribunal Conditionally Approves Coca-Cola Bottling Deal

South Africa's Competition Tribunal gave conditional approval to Coca-Cola HBC's bid for majority control of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, saying clearance carries conditions tied to public interest concerns after hearing from both companies and a staff union. Under the deal struck last October, Coca-Cola HBC would buy a 75% stake in CCBA for a $2.6 billion payment to The Coca-Cola Company and to Gutsche Family Investments. It would add 14 African markets, among them South Africa, Ethiopia and Kenya, to its Egypt and Nigeria footprint.

Coca-Cola CEO Rejects Rivals' Irrational Pricing In India

Coca-Cola chief executive Henrique Braun told a Barclays investor conference his company will not chase "irrational" pricing moves by rivals in India, where Reliance Industries' Campa Cola brand now ranks as a serious rival. Reliance reported that Campa Cola grew into India's No. 4 carbonated soft drink brand by fiscal 2026. Crisil Ratings found newer, lower-priced entrants lifted their combined market share to roughly 6-7% in fiscal 2026, up from 2% two years earlier. Braun said Coca-Cola will instead lean on packaging, brand strength and revenue management.
