Coca-Cola

CCEP Reports Strong UK Growth On Zero Sugar

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners reported first-half revenue growth of 5.6% in Britain, helped by demand for Monster Energy, Powerade and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. Volume growth benefited from promotions tied to the FIFA World Cup and favorable second-quarter weather. Cherry Float drove strong volumes for Zero Sugar, while Diet Coke gained ground through a Cherry variant and a Devil Wears Prada tie-in. Group-wide first-half revenue climbed 4.4%, 6.1% on a currency-neutral basis, and comparable operating profit was up 6.5%. Group volumes grew 5.6%. CEO Damian Gammell described a ‘strong first half,’ citing balanced growth, gains in market share and tighter cost discipline. CCEP reaffirmed its 3-4% full-year comparable revenue growth guidance and its planned €1 billion share buyback.

Coca-Cola Japan Sells Label-Less Water To Cut Waste

Coca-Cola Japan is selling label-less bottled mineral water in some Tokyo vending machines, printing product details on bottle caps instead. Regulation previously limited label-less beverage sales to boxed formats, but a ministerial ordinance revision now permits individual sales. Industry estimates from Japan Soft Drink Association suggest that removing labels nationwide, across roughly 2 million machines that sell bottled water, could cut plastic consumption by about 350 tons annually. The company is considering removing labels from other products.

Coca-Cola Loses India Market Share Amid Cost Pressures

Coca-Cola’s share of the Indian market slipped during the second quarter as rising aluminum costs squeeze margins and packaging gaps persist at mid-tier price points. Fallout from events in the Middle East triggered a Diet Coke shortage as can supply tightened, and a subsequent spike in ‘Diet Coke parties’ further lifted demand; Coca-Cola raised prices and began sourcing larger cans from Southeast Asia. Strong quarterly earnings and raised annual forecasts, driven by World Cup advertising, were offset by weak results from India.

Monster

Monster Energy Loses Korea Logo Trademark Dispute

South Korea’s Supreme Court ruled against Monster Energy Company in a trademark dispute with JBio, a domestic producer of workout supplement beverages, upholding a lower court decision favoring JBio’s Kim Jae-yoon. The case centered on whether JBio’s ‘Jambaegi Energy’ packaging infringed Monster Energy’s claw-mark logo. An earlier patent board ruling found the designs similar, prompting Kim’s appeal, but the Supreme Court found that the two logos differ in appearance, pronunciation and concept.
