Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Build New Production Line

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan has built an aseptic production line at its plant in Ebina. CCBJ has expanded the plant to meet a growing demand for small PET bottle products. Once the line starts operating in April, it will be able to manufacture roughly 900 small PET bottles per minute. It will also be used to create Ayataka Cafe and Costa Coffee products. 

Coca-Cola Unveils New Powerade Packaging And Formula

Coca–Cola has revealed Powerade’s new look and formula, which aims to challenge Pepsi Co’s Gatorade. Powerade’s updated packaging and marketing prominently claims it has 50 percent more electrolytes than its previous formula and Gatorade’s Thirst Quencher. The new formula also includes Vitamins C and B12, unlike the old recipe and its competitor’s product. With Powerade and the BodyArmor brand, Coca-Cola hope to make up the majority of the U.S. sports drinks market by 2027. According to Euromonitor InternationalToday, Gatorade controls about 63 percent of the $13 billion US sports drinks market by volume. Combined, Coke’s brands have about 29 percent of the market: BodyArmor 14.5 percent and Powerade just 14.1 percent. Euromonitor predicts the market will grow to nearly $17 billion in 2027.

Danone Inaugurates R&D Center In Paris

Danone SA has inaugurated its Daniel Carasso International Research and Innovation Center on the Paris-Saclay campus. The center houses laboratories and project spaces dedicated to developing Danone’s fresh dairy and plant-based products and natural mineral water categories. Research will focus on five areas: meeting consumer needs, improving its product portfolio, developing new science and technology, and innovating sustainable packaging. Collecting and analyzing data will also help Paris-based Danone develop services such as apps and improve traceability.

Snapple Launches fAIct Generator Powered By OpenAI

In celebration of 20 years of Snapple Real Facts, Snapple has launched Snapple fAIct Generator, an AI-powered tool that allows consumers to create facts. Powered by technology from ChatGPT creator OpenAI, the Snapple fAIct Generator allows users to create and share facts via social media. The Snapple fAIct Generator will create a database of all newly created facts. To create custom facts, customers can visit SnapplefAIcts.com or scan the QR code on any Snapple bottle.

Dr. Pepper Adds Strawberries & Cream Flavor To Permanent Lineup

Dr Pepper has added a new flavor to its permanent lineup, Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream. Dr. Pepper claims its latest flavor innovation is the only strawberry and cream-flavored dark soda in the market today. Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream Regular and Zero Sugar varieties will hit shelves nationwide this month.

Alder Creek Beverages Joins The Nirvana Water Sciences Portfolio

Wellness company Nirvana Water Sciences Corp. has acquired Alder Creek Beverages LLC, a New York producer of bottled spring water. The acquisition includes 1,700 acres of land in Boonville, which is located on top of two of the largest aquifers in the northeast U.S. In addition, the land includes five New York State certified springs, over twenty additional undeveloped springs and a vertically integrated bottling facility. With the acquisition, Nirvana Water Sciences hopes to expand its presence in the functional water category. Nirvana plans to launch eight new HMB muscle wellness infused bottled water products in Q1 2023.

Roar Organic Raises $6M In Funding

Hydration beverage company Roar Organic has raised $6 million in funding. The company intends to use the funds to grow its product line, increase operations and expand its business reach. Roar Organic offers a line of organic Complete Hydration beverages combining vitamins, antioxidants and electrolytes. The line can be purchased online on its website and Amazon, and in retailers including Publix, Whole Foods Markets, Kroger, Sprouts, Wegmans and Safeway.

G FUEL Launches More Flavors In The Vitamin Shoppe

G FUEL has announced that more of its flavors are launching at The Vitamin Shoppe stores nationwide, including a new store-exclusive Naruto-inspired flavor: Soda Ice Candy. Kamehameha (Dragon Ball Z-inspired Strawberry Lychee), Power Pellet (Pac-Man-inspired Cherry Lollipop), and Snow Cone flavors will be available in 16 oz RTD can and 40-serving powder tub formats in addition to Blue Bomber Slushee (Mega-Man inspired Blue Raspberry) and Rage Drive (TEKKEN-inspired Cantaloupe) flavors in 40-servings tubs. Canadian kombucha brand Cove Gut Healthy Drinks has launched Cove Gut Healthy Soda, a zero-sugar functional sugar made with one billion probiotics and prebiotics. The beverage is sweetened with a proprietary, natural plant blend sweetener that combines probiotics and prebiotics to enhance gut health. Cove Gut Healthy Soda is now available in Orange, Grape, and Lemon Lime flavors at nationwide retailers including Sobeys and Loblaw. More flavors are in development with plans to expand into the U.S. market, focusing on California in early 2023.
