Lawsuit Claims Coca-Cola’s Simply Orange Juice Contains High Levels Of Toxic PFAS

Coca-Cola is facing a lawsuit over claims its Simply Orange Juice contains high levels of toxic PFAS chemicals. Third-party testing was alleged to have found PFAS at levels hundreds of times greater than federal limits for drinking water. The lawsuit claims the product deceives customers as it is labeled as an all-natural product. Exposure to high levels of PFAS can lead to increased risks of kidney or testicular cancer, fetal complications, liver disease and increased cholesterol levels. The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed monetary compensation for himself and the class suit, along with an award for damages and civil penalties to be issued towards the brand.

Coca-Cola HBC Ireland And Northern Ireland Announces £17M Investment Into Knockmore Hill Facility

Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland announced an investment of £17 million to expand its production facility in Knockmore Hill, Lisburn. The investment will deliver 35 new permanent roles and add an additional 4,597 square meters to the facility, covering manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Production at the expanded facility is set to begin in August 2023.

Coca-Cola Launches Simply Mixology Line

Coca-Cola’s juice brand Simply has launched Simply Mixology, a line of all-natural juice beverages made to be enjoyed with or without alcohol. The Simply Mixology line has three varieties: Strawberry Guava Mojito, Lime Margarita and Peach Sour. The line will be available starting January 23 in the refrigerated juice sections of grocery stores across the United States.

Molson Coors Launches Alcohol-Free Canned Cocktail Brand

Brewing company Molson Coors has launched Roxie, an alcohol-free canned craft cocktail. Roxie is Molson Coors' latest venture in the beyond beer space and marks their first-ever direct-to-consumer line of zero-proof cocktails. The new drink comes in three flavors: Ripe with Passionfruit, Forbidden Pineapple, and Lost in Mango.

Monster Beverages Predicts Sales Growth Following Price Hike And Innovation Plans

Monster Beverage Corporation executives predict that sales growth across its energy drink portfolio will pick up and continue to outpace overall category growth in the coming months following its price increases in Fall 2022. Executives also say units, which have dipped in recent weeks due to the tightening economy, will recover as the company introduces new products targeting a more diverse consumer base. This year, Monster Beverages will introduce a new line of clean energy beverages under its Reign brand. Reign Storm will include four fruit flavored options: Kiwi Blend, Peach Nectarine, Valencia Orange and Harvest Grape, in 12-ounce cans featuring softer colors and fruit imagery. In addition, the company is planning to introduce innovations within its Rehab, Juice, Ultra and Java lines. This month, Monster will also expand into the alcohol beverage sector in select markets, with a second wave planned for March.

Nongfu Spring To Build Second Production Base in Sichuan

Chinese bottled water company Nongfu Spring is reportedly investing CNY1.1 billion ($160 million) to build a second production base in Sichuan province. The new base in Dujiangyan will cover an area of about 0.2 square kilometers and will be completed and put into operation within five years. Its main products will be natural drinking water and beverages, with an expected annual output value of more than CNY1.5 billion.

Macay Holdings Acquires RC Global Beverages

Filipino beverage manufacturer Macay Holdings Inc. has gained the global licensing rights of RC Cola after completing the PHP 2.5 billion ($46 million) takeover of RC Global Beverages. Macay said the acquisition would strengthen its food and beverage portfolio while diversifying its business via foreign currency revenues.

Michigan-based craft cider company Blake’s Hard Cider has debuted its first non-alcoholic beverage, Sorta Pop probiotic soda. The new line of low calorie, low sugar probiotic sodas are made with real fruit and contain over a million probiotics per can to support digestive balance and gut health. Sorta Pop is available in three flavors: Tangerine, Strawberry-Watermelon-Cucumber and Lemon Lime. It is available to purchase in SE Michigan independent retailers, with expanded distribution to chain store retailers in Michigan and Ohio planned for Spring.

Mushroom Iced Tea Space Tea To Expand Nationwide

Californian start-up Space Tea is set to expand its adaptogenic mushroom iced tea nationwide early Q1 2023. Space Tea combines a base of ultra-premium organic teas with functional Reishi and Lion’s Mane mushrooms, with claims to lift energy and mental clarity. The brand offers a modern spin on both the classic Arnold Palmer — offered in three low-sugar flavors: Original, Golden Mango and Summer Watermelon — and Classic Tea with zero sugar and zero calories: Lemon Zero, Hibiscus Zero and Matcha Zero. Space Tea is currently available in California retailers including Erewhon Market, Bristol Farms, Earthbar, Lazy Acres, Mother’s Market and Sun Life.
